A self-proclaimed bedroom artist, Martin Purvis started by singing jazz standards at a community centre around the age of 10 years old. Picking up his first acoustic guitar around the age of 18, he began writing his own songs in the bathroom while sitting in the dark (the first of these being on his debut album Dust), often accompanied by a bottle of whisky of course.
Growing up, Martin was brought up with the likes of Tom Waits, Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra being played on the radio. These great artists were very influential and were perhaps the reason why he started in the first place at all.
All of his recordings so far have been made entirely within the confines of his bedroom, from inception to release. You’ll find a mix of swing, folk as well as easy listening genres by this artist.
An Outlaw's Anthem comes out on Friday 23rd June 2023 with a music video for you all to enjoy!
